Hi!
Thank you to all of you who have reached out to me in the last few days to show your kindness, I appreciate it. I understand many people are touched by seeing the story, and I thank you all for showing such compassion and respect for Banaz's memory.
A lot of you have asked me how you can support, how you can do your part.
I have made a list of ways you can help:
Banaz and myself were both married as children, before we were 18, sadly you may not hear much about this point when reading about the story, however it is very important to note.
I now campaign to eradicate Child Marriage, Honour Based Abuse, FGM & all forms of Harmful Practices.
Action 1
- Take 18 minutes of your day to watch my TEDx London Talk here
Once watched, share on social media, with your friends, family wider networks!
Action 2
- Sign the petition calling on our Government to ban Child marriage, it is currently legal to marry at 16 with parental consent which can lead to force.
Once signed, share on social media, with your friends, family wider networks!
Action 3
- I work directly with IKWRO who are doing incredibly VITAL work to support MENA women & girls who are at risk of ‘honour’ based violence, forced marriage, child marriage, FGM and DA
- Support their work by doing what you can from the following:
(i) follow social media accounts (@ikwro) & share their work with your friends, family wider networks!
(ii) donate
(iii) volunteer
Thank you, lots of love.
